What's the limit?

I think all of the merchandise shown here is sacrilegious at best; probably blasphemous in regards to the fourth command. It seems to blatantly violate the principle that Jesus taught us in the cle...

Is Arminianism a False Gospel or a Legit Gospel?

Will, If the above were true, it would make God's decision subject to man's future decision. God is not bound by what we do or say. It is as the Scripture says "But as many as received Him, to the...

About Me:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

I haven't been online much of late...

Hi all,

My life of late has been a whirlwind of activity, and as the summer looms up ahead it looks like it is just going to get crazier! Becky's sister and brother-in-law have been in town since Sunday, so we have been split between work and visiting with them. They are reformed, so there has been an opportunity for some sweet fellowship.

One of our cats had kittens two nights past. She decided to have them on our bed under our covers! That was messy, but interesting, as I have never seen a c… Continue

Calvin's Commentaries

Several weeks ago I was able to get a copy of Calvin's Commentaries. Since then, I have been reading through them (very slowly, I'll admit). I came across the following and I thought I would post it!

"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling.
(Mat 23:37 NASB)
"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones th… Continue

Two Points of View

Originally posted on my blog "Practical Reformation" on February 6, 2008

This afternoon Becky and I drove to South Bend to do some shopping. On the toll road, I read the first few chapters of the Gospel of John as she drove. The following passage sparked a little discussion:

"The next day He purposed to go into Galilee, and He found Philip. And Jesus said to him, 'Follow Me.' Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and… Continue

Providence in Joseph's Life

The Greatness of Our God

This post is originally from my blog "Practical Reformation" It was first posted on January 8, 2008

Today I was reminded of our God's omniscience. He knows all things, even to the innermost recesses of our hearts. "Would not God find this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart." (Psa 44:21 NASB) This can be a torment to the sinner for God sees our thoughts and intentions (Heb 4:12). It is a grace to the righteous, for he hears ou… Continue

Thanks, Tim.

I open my mouth far too often. :) If I'm to be totally honest, it's a bit intimidating to debate a calvinist and I'm not prepared to do that. Plus, I really do tend to open my mouth too much! I'm afraid I may not be able to resist the one on music, though...

Hi thanks for the welcome. What type of church do you go to? I have never seen a church that had men women AND children up singing around a pulpit like that, very interesting.

Within the Reformed tradition, there has been controversy over the interpretation of the second commandment. Many argue that it precludes all visual depictions, while others argue it only prohibits images of God.
