Okay, maybe it's only interesting to me because I've been conversing with a young self-proclaimed atheist, but:
Our newspaper (my husband takes 3, so it was either USA Today or The Fresno Bee) a few days ago ran an article about the President having canceled America's National Day of Prayer. Well, being Christians, we know we don't NEED a national day--we pray EVERY day--but you would think if anyone was going to complain about this, it would be "religious-minded" folk. Nope! Apparently there w… Continue

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28; ESV)
Very early on in my Christian life I came across this verse and clung to it as one of my very own. It's a great verse! Whenever I experienced trials or tribulations, I would trot this verse out for comfort. I would also use this verse to comfort others. It's a very comforting verse; no matter what you're going through,… Continue

We all believe with the heart and confess with the mouth that there is one only simple and spiritual Being, which we call God; and that He is eternal, incomprehensible, invisible, immutable, infinite, almighty, perfectly wise, just, good, and the overflowing fountain of all good. (BC, Article I)
We live in what Michael Horton, in his book Christless Christianity, calls a post-Christian culture. In other words, the idea that America is a 'Christ… Continue

Keith Daniel gives a solemn warning to the Church of Jesus Christ in America, that we must pray before its too late. The church should not use wordly methods to win the world it will not work! The main thrust of the sermon is preached from Ephesians 6:10-18 and the emphasis is that the church needs to get into warfare on their knees. God can still change America and other nations to be God fearing and righteous again. Continue

Is it just me that has a fixation on Heaven? I am open to anyone's thoughts on this one. I seem to have a preoccupation with the place! Add that to my daily fixation on the return of our Lord! I have been a Christian for 38 years or so, and this was not always the case. When I became "Reformed"; I, like probably many of you, became entrenched in all things "Calvinistic". The only down side is that I have not found many, (ok, maybe one guy that I created over time) to have this same worldview. Is… Continue

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, ESV)
Without question the most important thing in the Christian faith is the gospel. In Galatians 1:8, the apostle Paul wrote, “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed,” and in 1 Corinthians 15:14 he wrote, “And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is… Continue

I just finished reading Thomas Watsons' "Taking Heaven by Storm" and I must say it was a great book. I felt as though Watson pierced my heart with his words. What I wanted to do is to share some notes I took from the book with commentary where I felt inspired.
"Truth is the best flower in the churches crown" This quote made me stop and reflect on what this really means. In our culture all truth is considered relative with no absolute truth that can be expounded. The truth is not some novel conc… Continue

It has been a long time since I posted anything. My wife and I felt the call of God to leave Texas and head back “home” to the Pacific Northwest. We are on a total faith walk as God put it on our hearts to leave my job, and follow His leading. He gave us a beautiful place of rest in the forest as caretakers of a cabin. Our stay is drawing to a close and we are seeking Him for our next destination.
As we have taken the time to draw nearer to God, He is teaching us how important it is that we dev… Continue

Well, as always on various sites around the Christian blogosphere, there are interesting debates taking place. Unfortunately, theological discussions can often turn ugly, uncivil and unbecoming in their witness to an unbelieving world. I think of the unfortunate Silva/Abanes controversy, in which one blogger accused the other of writing a libelous article about him, and instigated actions t… Continue
Rick Warren of Saddleback Church interviewed Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain this past Saturday evening, on issues related to faith and government. I don't happen to be a big fan of Rick Warren but I think that the interviews do provide a useful public service. A full transcript of the Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency can be found at this link.
Here are the videos:

Section I, Part III, Number 36 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church states regarding the knowledge of God:
"Our holy mother, the Church, holds and teaches that God, the first principle and last end of all things, can be known with certainty from the created world by the natural light of human reason." Without this capacity, man would not be able to welcome God's revelation. Man has this capacity because he is created "in the image of God".
The first thing that you should no… Continue
Every form is an art form, and even the way we construct buildings says something about our worldview. Throughout the history of the church, architecture has revealed something about man's concept of God and of worship.
